Sneak Peek: BMW Vision EfficientDynamics

A couple weeks ago, a previously unseen BMW concept car was spotted being loaded into a transporter and speculation ensued over whether or not it was the well-hidden EfficientDynamics car BMW is bringing to Frankfurt. Now BMW has dropped a teaser of the real thing, and it's still a head-scratcher.

Now apparently named the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics, the teaser was slipped into the end of a video posted on BMW's online video site, BMW TV. The rest of the video offers no clues at all about the Vision, so all we have to go on is this close-up picture of a very unusual tail light.

Apparently taking a minimalist approach, BMW has removed as much material from rear body work and the tail light itself as possible. While the negative space makes for some very avant garde styling and architecture on the rear of the vehicle, it may well serve to reduce weight and improve aerodynamics. Or it could all be for style, we don't really know. All we really know is that the car is expected to showcase BMW's latest efforts at building greener, more sustainable cars.

We also know that it doesn't look much like the more conventionally-styled concept we spotted earlier this month. On the other hand, BMW could have stuffed all sorts of things underneath that plastic wrap to alter the appearance of the body work and throw us off the trail.
