Audi to be Featured Marque at Goodwood Festival of Speed
Audi will be the 'featured marque' at the 2009 Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, just days before the manufacturer celebrates its centenary.
No details of Audi's design for the sculpture that will reside in front of the Goodwood House have yet been revealed, though the company promises that it will supply 'Auto Union's pioneering C & D-Type single-seater racing cars from the 1930s, rally and race quattro all-wheel-drive machines and the company's most recent record breaking Le Mans sportscars' for various displays - static and dynamic.
The brand is no newcomer to Goodwood. Hans Joachim Stuck Jr. drove a 1938/9 Auto Union Type C/D Hillclimb car here in 1998, and the brand has offered support ever since. Even Audi's memorable 1999 aerial display is expected to pale in comparison to this year's spread, however. In keeping with Goodwood's theme this year of "True Grit - Epic Feats of Endurance," Audi will show 1930s-era Auto Union C and D-Type single-seat racers as well as a collection of its quattro rally and racing cars and the most recent Le Mans cars. Audi's drivers at the racing events of the weekend will include Jacky Ickx and Allan McNish. An Audi product and merchandise pavilion will also be set up.
Audi's famous racing drivers on hand for the weekend will include legends Jacky Ickx and Allan McNish.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed runs from 3-5 July and this year's theme is 'True Grit - Epic Feats of Endurance'.
