New Car: 2010 Hyundai Equus

Hyundai revealed its new Equus in Korea today. What’s an Equus? Well, in Latin it means horse, but, in Hyundai’s case, it’s the company’s decade-running luxury flagship sedan. The new model, pictured above, rides on Genesis hardware and might make an appearance in the U.S. market.

Though bigger, longer and wider than the Genesis, the Equus borrows its powertrain options, launching with Hyundai's 3.8-liter V-6 and the Tau 4.6-liter V-8. Reports claim a 5.0-liter V-8 will make its way in to a long-wheelbase variant somewhere down the line. Otherwise, expect a number of other luxury amenities, including the LED treatment to head and taillights, and a bevy of safety options. If the Equus does come stateside, reports indicate its badge will read Genesis Prestige and it will compete with top-line luxury vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
