Full details and pricing announced for 2009 Ford Focus RS

The forthcoming Focus RS sports hatch by Ford was initially unveiled in concept configuration last July at the London Motor Show, and once more at the Paris Motor Show, but the design phase is about to be concluded and sales are anticipated to begin early in 2009.

Constructed on an identical core as the Focus ST, the RS brings more power, handling and appearance revisions to enhance the ability of the vehicle to put its potency to the ground and direct it down any kind of path, in and off road. To prevent the potent unit from producing unmanageable torque steer, the technicians developed the vehicle with a special suspension designated the ‘RevoKnuckle,’ which permits the vehicle to maintain the intended direction of travel while under intense throttle.

This functions together with a Quaife automatic torque biasing restricted-slip differential. Merged, the Focus RS removes the necessity for AWD and the included weight gains of the superfluous differential and driveshafts. Even on a less-than-perfect surface a Quaife automatic torque-biasing restricted-slip differential keeps the traction stable.

Modifications to the typical Duratec 2.5L block consist of unique camshafts, a modified cylinder head and gasket and modified intake and manifold system. In addition to the excess energy, the Focus RS also gets a 40mm broader track, 19 inch rims, 235mm rubber, uprated springs, dampers and anti-roll bars.

With the release of some official photos of the ultimate production variant of the vehicle, fresh details have been unveiled. Although almost all of the specs have already been established by Ford, some of the latest particulars consist of a sprint from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in a matter of 5.9 seconds and a ceiling speed of 264 km/h (164 mph). It has been reported that a price tag of €39,000 has been set for Europe. More details, photos and video after the jump!

It was established by Ford that buyers will have an option of three colors from inauguration, including vibrant green, white and blue. Buyers will likewise be able to fit the inside trim with the surface color theme or choose an option of full black leather.

Other highlights of the passenger compartment include bucket seats by Recaro, brushed aluminum highlights and regular micro-fiber trim. The performance driving environment is rounded off by three extra gauges derived from the Focus ST, consisting of a boost gauge, mounted on top the console at the center and appropriately slanted in the direction of the driver.
