2011 MAZDA2 - Front Angle View
MAZDA2 is the latest in a line of stylish, insightful and hugely fun-to-drive small cars from Mazda, and will bring an all-new level of refinement to the segment, as MAZDA3 did for the compact C-Car market. MAZDA2 is a car that only the engineers at Mazda could have created. It was designed and engineered from scratch to be a pure Mazda, offering the sort of driving experience that could only come from the company that developed the timeless MX-5 two-seat roadster, and it brings a combination of athletic design and dynamic performance to the subcompact class that simply does not exist at this time.

Originally launched in 2007, the new MAZDA2 was first introduced in Europe, Japan and Australia. Its launch created a unique offering in the B-car (subcompact) segment, especially through its distinguished design and outstanding driving performance. Since then, it has been highly acclaimed throughout the world, winning 48 automotive awards, including “Car of the Year” accolades in many markets, including Japan, New Zealand, Chile, Bulgaria and Greece. Notably, the MAZDA2 was selected as the “2008 World Car of the Year” (WCOTY) at the 2008 New York International Auto Show and has established a distinguished position in the B-Car segment. To date, total global sales have reached approximately 370,000 units in the three years since its introduction, and MAZDA2 is now recognized as one of the global models which symbolizes the essence of the Mazda brand.
In line with the way B-cars are mainly used as day-to-day commuters, with a driver-oriented development philosophy, the MAZDA2 has achieved a level of drivability and nimbleness that enables easy maneuverability, even in small car-parking areas and other tight spaces.
More information on the 2011 MAZDA2 interior, specifications and pricing will be available at a later date.

Strategic Vision Announces New Automotive Metric: SmartGreen

In a press release issued today, the San Diego-based consumer research firm announced a new automotive study based on the customer buying priorities of “Smart” and “Green.”

New study reflects quality, value and “green” issues
In the ever-expanding portfolio of consumer-based automotive studies, you can add yet another: Strategic Vision’s “SmartGreen Index.” This latest study is said to meld consumer attitudes towards the perceived quality of a vehicle into a mix that includes such eco-friendly issues such as fuel economy and environmental “friendliness” (a rather broad term, to say the least).
In any case, for your edification, here is the complete press release:
San Diego – Strategic Vision unveils the new SmartGreen Index℠ (SGI℠) which reflects the relationships between perceived quality plus overall value (Smart) and “green” issues such as fuel economy and environmental friendliness (Green). SGI℠ is based on actual customer experiences and is weighted according to those aspects which best predict customer advocacy, overall satisfaction, future brand choices and loyalty, which ultimately result in increased model and brand sales.
“While all customers are looking for vehicles they can trust and depend on, a majority of customers also have vehicle priorities such as styling, capacity, comfort, capability, performance and price. Ideally, most customers are looking for a vehicle they can love and express a meaningful emotional connection to,” says Dr. Darrel Edwards, CEO of Strategic Vision. Vehicles such as the Land Rover LR2, Corvette Convertible, Kia Amanti and Chrysler 300C are not always thought of as Green but still score higher than others in their respective segments when it comes to SmartGreen℠. These vehicles are vehicles customers love and are emotionally connected to, providing exactly what customers desire in performance and capability while also providing the “best” Green-related issues in class.
“When customers do not have to compromise their desired vehicle styling, roominess, power and price to obtain the best fuel economy and environmentally friendliness in class, they have made the SmartGreen℠ choice,” reports Alexander Edwards, President of Strategic Vision’s Automotive division. As SGI℠ scores are based on those product attributes which best predict strong sales in segment, it is no surprise that the brands with the highest number of segment leaders are Toyota and Honda (with five and four leaders, respectively). Toyota’s best-in-class leaders are the Yaris Hatchback, Prius, Highlander Hybrid (tie), 4Runner and Tundra (tie). Honda’s leaders are the Accord Coupe, Odyssey, CR-V and Ridgeline. Lexus also had two segment leaders with the IS 250/IS 350 and the RX400 Hybrid.
Being a hybrid vehicle alone is not enough to guarantee top SmartGreen℠ marks. Industry-wide, some hybrids place at or below segment average in SGI℠ when factors such as interior quality cues or overall perceived value are rated below their competition. While the Toyota Prius may be the obvious SmartGreen℠ leader because of its fuel economy, it is easy to forget that the Prius also offers innovative interior styling which adds to making the Prius the SmartGreen℠ choice and among hybrid models, highest in sales. “Even when fuel prices are highest, people will want more than a little box with good fuel economy,” says Chris Chaney, V.P. of Special Projects at Strategic Vision. “For example, the Mazda3 leads in its segment ahead of the hybrids, offering superior styling, innovation, performance and affordability coupled with good fuel economy, offering more than competitive hybrids.”

Kia Amanti
Kia Amanti
Chevrolet had the most segment leaders among the domestic corporations with the Tahoe, Avalanche (tie) and Corvette Convertible leading their respective segments. The Tahoe scored high in perceived quality, as did its competition; however, the Tahoe was rated exceptionally higher than the competition in environmentally friendliness and fuel efficiency. “Even SUV buyers are sensitive to Green issues. Flex-fuel and hybrid options provide Green choices to Tahoe owners which increase customer advocacy, retention and bring new buyers into the brand, even if the vehicle they finally purchase is not always the greenest option,” states Alexander Edwards.
The MINI Cooper Clubman and Convertible were leaders in their segments due to terrific performance, overall value and Green-related issues. The MINI Cooper Hatchback scored just below the MINI Cooper Clubman, with both vehicles taking the top places in Specialty Coupes. The BMW 3-Series Coupe was also a leader in its segment.
MINI

Other best in class SGI℠ leaders were the Kia Amanti, Nissan Murano (tie), Audi Q7 and Mercedes S-Class for their excellence in quality, styling, performance and greenness. Buyers rated the following vehicles tops in their segments:
SCI
According to Dr. Edwards, in addition to the SGI℠ segment leaders, many manufacturers are “getting it right” with their model lineup. Included in Strategic Vision’s SmartGreen℠ Report are vehicle Five and Four Star SmartGreen℠ ratings, that are provided to manufacturers to better understand which of today’s vehicles are paving the way to help make their brand and their lineup the leaders of tomorrow.
For example, Five and Four Star vehicles are those like the Suzuki SX4 Sedan which offer fun and excitement through strong vehicle performance and styling in a fuel efficient package. These attributes and vehicle imagery are what can lead to increased awareness and potential consideration of the SX4 and other Suzuki models.

2011 Mazda 2 will be launched with technology SKYACTIVE

Mazda Motor Corporation (Mazda), will launch the Mazda2 (or something in Japan called the Demio) SKYACTIVE latest generation technology in mid-2011. Thanks to technology, this car only takes one liter of fuel to travel 30 kilometers. "We will launch SKYACTIVE technology equipped cars in Japan mid-2011, and in the global market in 2012," said Takashi Yamanouchi, Chief Executive Officer of Mazda. He mentions, compared to previous generations, Mazda's new 2 was more efficient 30 percent even without the use of hybrid technology. Interestingly, although the newer tech car would be priced cheaper than similar cars from other manufacturers. "We promise we will offer the Demio (Mazda2) at a price that is cheaper than the hybrid model in the same segment (hatchback)," Yamanouchi said without elaborating that the price scale.

Then what is true that SKYACTIVE technology? Mazda calls this technology is a series of innovations in the engine, transmission, body, until the car chassis. As a result, fuel efficient cars even without the help of electric motor is typically a hybrid car. In the direct injection system engine perfected so that the engine compression 14: 1. Thanks to the improvements that the engine can use 84 octane fuel. In the transmission, Mazda automatic transmission technology combines the benefits of continously variable transmission (CVT), manual and dual clutch transmission. Car body is made of materials that have a light weight but strong. So even with heavy chassis that made the chassis lighter than previous generations.

Latest Italian Sports Car

spada_codatronca_sm.jpg
AS the tile suggested, Italian design shop Spadaconcept revealed a new sports concept car. It looks mighty sleek and gorgeous. It’s just a prototype though but it is looking good. The Codatronica is a modern taken on last century’s sports car designs. If you look at it closely, you’ll see a little resemblance to the Chevrolet Corvett.

it’ll be produced in three spec levels, Sport Touring (512 hp) Fast Sport Touring (513 hp – ?) and Sport Super Touring (700 hp, 701 ft-lbs, an estimated top speed of 220 mph and a zero-to-60 time of 2.7 seconds).
Think Ferarris and Bugattis, friends…the Italians make some pretty nice looking, impressive cars. The Codatronica looks almost futuristic, too bad it doesn’t fly yet like how cars should by the year 2000 :P

Honda CR-Z At SEMA 2010【Video】

Honda has releases the all-new 2011 Honda CR-Z sport hybrid at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. These collection of cars show the different faces of the CR-Z and what could be possible with a little bit of imagination and careful planning.

The Mugen Honda CR-Z Hybrid features a custom body kit, a new grille, a rear wing spoiler and 17 inch aluminium alloys together with new floor mats, an aluminium shift knob and a billet aluminium oil-filler cap. Production for the Mugen Honda CR-Z Hybrid will be limited to 300 exemplars and in terms of performance no upgrades have been performed.

To amp up the CR-Z Racer, Honda engineers upgraded the IMA hybrid system and equipped the 1.5-liter petrol engine with a turbocharger. Thanks to these tweaks, output climbs to an estimated 200 hp (149 kW / 203 PS) and 175 lb-ft (237 Nm) of torque.

Set to star at the 25 Hours of Thunderhill endurance race in December, the HPD CR-Z Racer concept rocks both a turbocharger and upgraded IMA hybrid system that culminates in 150 kilowatts of power and 237Nm of torque. Of course muscle isn’t everything so HPD also grafted in a performance clutch; limited-slip differential; “circuit-tuned” suspension; upgraded brakes and various aerodynamic components. Personally, as a bit of a CR-Z fan.

2011 Honda CR-Z Sport Hybrid Dominates 2010 SEMA Show

Twelve modified 2011 Honda CR-Z sport hybrid coupes are featured prominently in the Honda booth at the 2010 SEMA Show, which opens today. As the first available sport hybrid, the CR-Z demonstrates new opportunities for vehicle personalization among the import tuner community. Several significant vehicles are being unveiled at the show, including a 2011 CR-Z equipped with MUGEN* accessories, the Honda Performance Development, Inc. (HPD) CR-Z Hybrid R Concept, the HPD CR-Z Racer and several vehicles equipped with Honda Genuine Accessories.

"With the CR-Z sport hybrid coupe, drivers can achieve the great efficiency of a hybrid car without giving up the fun that many demand from a sporty car," said Bruce Smith, vice president of Parts Operations for American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "The combination of greener practicality with style and fun makes this vehicle a perfect fit for young, environmentally conscious buyers looking to further personalize their cars."

A 2011 CR-Z equipped with MUGEN accessories is also being revealed, and Honda announced that in the spring of 2011, it will begin sales of a limited-edition MUGEN accessory kit for the vehicle. Limited to only 300 complete kits, the package includes: a full MUGEN body kit; a front grille; a rear wing spoiler; 17-inch "XJ" aluminum wheels; sport mats; a unique black aluminum shift knob and a billet aluminum oil-filler cap. Further, after purchase, each owner will receive a unique serial-number plaque designating each kit as one of 300 available. All of the painted parts will come color-matched to each of the five available CR-Z colors. Pricing details will be made available closer to the on-sale date.

Also unveiled today were two concept vehicles from HPD: the CR-Z Hybrid R Concept and the HPD CR-Z Racer. Though neither vehicle is intended for sale, HPD, Honda's North American racing company, was determined to demonstrate the potential of the CR-Z for both street and racing performance. Both vehicles share many performance enhancements, with the CR-Z Hybrid R Concept highlighting Honda-designed street styling and the HPD CR-Z Racer opting for serious racing capability. To demonstrate that capability, HPD will campaign two HPD CR-Z Racers at the 25 Hours of Thunderhill endurance race in December. HPD enhancements to both cars include: a turbocharger and upgraded IMATM hybrid system, resulting in an estimated combined 200 horsepower and 175 lb-ft. of torque; performance clutch; limited-slip differential; ‘circuit-tuned' suspension; upgraded brakes and aerodynamic components.

Two vehicles were on display to demonstrate currently available Honda Genuine Accessories. For the CR-Z, Honda displayed a vehicle equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels; side, front lip and tailgate spoilers; a rear diffuser; an illuminated door-sill trim and an interior armrest. Additionally, a 2010 Accord Coupe equipped with dealer-installed Honda Factory PerformanceTM (HFPTM) components melded a distinctive, custom appearance with an enhanced level of handling performance. All Honda Genuine Accessories offer the same 3-year/36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty as the rest of the vehicle, when installed at the time of new vehicle purchase, and are engineered to be fully compatible with each Honda vehicle.

On display as a demonstration concept only, the Accord Crosstour HFP Concept features 19-inch HFP wheels; a full HFP body kit and front grille; a prototype lowered HFP sport suspension; color-matched door handles and special black-out door sash trim.

Reaching out to the import community, Honda invited six independent vehicle tuners to build and display their CR-Z hybrid concepts at the SEMA Show. Tuners were asked to push the limits to improve fuel economy and performance with their builds, and the vehicles on display show the variety of directions in which a personalized sport hybrid can go. Beyond this group, both the Los Angeles Auto Show and Honda Tuning Magazine displayed their CR-Z special project cars in the Honda booth.
